Say what you want about the current gen Chevrolet Camaro, it just beat some of Germany's best cars, on a road course. These are real race cars, based on the road going cars, with tuned factory engines. This is the Euro V8 series, formerly known as the Superstars Series, and it features mostly Italian drivers, some former F1 drivers, and the like.

just some footnotes, this was the second round of the 2014 season and featured an insane crash on the first lap, so you won't want to miss that. again, this is essentially a touring car series, meaning these cars are very much based on their road going counterparts. factory -based engines (6.2 V8 in the Camaro, 4.0 V8 in Audi, 6.2 V8 in M3, etc), factory bodies with widened fenders. Real racing.

The M3 has a 4.0 V8 factory.

I think you mean 6.2 V8 in AMG and 4.0 V8 in M3.

There needs to be more races like this.

I'll never understand why "Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday" fell out of favour.

unfortunately Americans don't like real auto racing, they prefer the sports entertainment of NASCAR.

that said, there are plenty of touring car racing series around the world which feature racing with factory-based cars. BTCC, WTCC, Continental Tire Series, Euro V8. the difference between touring car racing like this and sports car or GT racing like Le Mans is that these are usually based on run of the mill sports cars like M3s and Camaros rather than near-supercars like Ferrari 458s and 911s. and forget stuff like DTM and Super GT, those are basically F1 with fenders. all aero and nothing road-based. cars in those series touch eachother and carbon fiber panels start flying off.

touring car racing is awesome.

Saw a little bit of this series when I tuned on to the Motors TV livestream. Would love to follow it.

Someone will have to edit this video. Cut it down or make a montage. And I don't know why OP kept insisting this is real racing. We know its racing. :P

I myself would love to watch these races live but I can't seem to ever find a decent quality live stream of them. so I try to find them on Youtube afterwards

well first time through I also skipped through just to see the key points, like passes and crashes. I do suggest you guys to subscribe to the Youtube channel for this video, it's the official EuroV8 channel.

and I keep insisting this is real racing because this is some of the most real racing that you'll ever see. some series like DTM or even V8 Supercars now, people think of as real cars racing, when it's actually just tube frame cars that have nothing to do with the road car.

obviously you can put aside things like NASCAR and F1 because none of that has anything to do with cars you actually can drive yourself. and GT/sportscar racing same thing, how often will any of us be driving 911s and Ferrari 458s and McLaren 12c's?

touring car racing is as real as it gets when you start talking about professional racing. this is just one series. I also am a big fan of the WTCC where FWD Chevy Cruzes were dominating RWD BMW 3-series for years. that's real racing right there. 300+ FWD economy cars duking it out with the "Ultimate Driving Machine"
